If you have ever dreamed of seeing the rainbow mountains that exist in Cusco, you should know that now there are two routes that you can take according to your conditions and the amount of time you want to walk. In both cases it is important that you take into account some details.

Rainbow Mountain - Ausangate
The tour starts early in the morning, around 3 to 4 a.m.
The journey to get to the mountain of colors is approximately 3 hours one way and 3 hours back.
You can find horses that take you almost to the end of the route where you will only have to walk for half an hour to 40 minutes to reach the mountain.
It has some climbing points that are somewhat complicated to reach.
The route has progressive climbs in height, you start at 4400 m.a.s.l. and the highest part is at 5200 meters above sea level.
It is one of the most touristic and visited routes in Cusco.
Palcoyo rout
The tour usually starts very early, around 5 a.m.
The journey to see the mountains lasts between 40 minutes and an hour.
Unlike the rainbow mountain, this route has several small mountains.
It is a less touristy route, since it was discovered after the pandemic.
Its access is a little difficult in particular, but there are more and more agencies that carry out this route.
You must keep in mind that the altitude is usually 4800 from the start to 5200 meters above sea level, for some it usually causes problems with breathing or pressure due to the height.
Tip: on both routes you will be able to see mountains of colors since the ground has that pigmentation throughout this area, the difference lies in the time you want to walk and how much the height affects you, since Palcoyo tends to have a greater impact for some tourists.
The prices in both cases are similar.
